Our clients approached us with an existing planning permission in hand, which they were concerned did not make the most of the site, or offer them the layout they wanted. They had obtained a unique wooded site set near the centre of an Oxfordshire town, surrounded by mature trees that provided a fantastic sense of nature, as well as privacy from the neighbouring properties.  Our design incorporates large amounts of glazing to maximise the natural light across the entire ground floor. On the first floor, vaulted ceilings are exposed throughout, to make the very most of the exposed oak-frame structure.  A double garage is attached, with extra accommodation set in the roofspace over. The use of timber cladding at first floor externally will ensure the house weathers subtly to suit the natural feel of the site.

Services: Design and planning negotiation (including addressing the issues around existing trees and ecology).

Client Testimonial: “We were introduced to John when we booked an initial appointment with Oakwrights at a House and Home Exhibition, where there were many other similar stands to compare.  When we chose Oakwrights to build our oak-framed house, we requested John as our architectural designer – because of his knowledge of oak frame builds, and his portfolio. We knew he would suit the vision for our build.

John listened to all our essential family requests, really got into our minds, and produced our forever home.

John gained planning for us with not a lot of input from us – he did all the negotiations and because he knew how to maximise what we could get, we actually got more than we thought we would.

We would always recommend John.  He designed a perfect house, and we still have people weekly walk down our road to check how perfectly designed it is to suit the area.  Thank you John.”
