Our clients were in the fortunate position to have space within the grounds of the property they had lived in for many years large enough to accommodate a new house. A careful planning application was required, to work within the constraints of the village development boundary, to consider the proportions of the houses adjacent, and to address the sloping nature of the site. Inspired by the Oakwrights Show House (located near Hereford), at first floor, the house features two ‘master-suites’, for him and her, each having a dramatically glazed outlook into the private gardens. An oversized porch makes a dramatic statement for anyone arriving for the first time approaching the front door.

Client Testimonial: “We were introduced to John Williams through Oakwrights as we had always had a dream of designing and building our own oak frame house. Although we had a plot of land which we thought was suitable, the planners had other ideas and the original concepts we came up with were all rejected due to the location being outside the building zone. John’s designs were superb and when we eventually identified a suitable plot, he adapted the existing plan to fit perfectly.
We ended up getting an oak frame house with everything we had always wanted; eco-friendly, looks fantastic, has wonderful views and importantly, has light in abundance in every room.
It was an absolute pleasure working with John on the design as he would take away our requirements which sometimes seemed completely incompatible with each other and come up with a solution. We found him empathetic, constructive, practical and full of ideas and would highly recommend him to anyone else looking to do some building work, even if they are not completely sure what they actually want!”
